DASU: On Friday, a temporary Compact 200 bridge was destroyed by a significant flash flood at the Uchaar Nullah stream close to the Karakoram Highway.The incident occurred in the Upper Kohistan region of Dasu, cutting off Gilgit-Baltistan from the rest of the nation.
The bridge, which was near to the residential camps of the 4,500 megawatt Dasu Hydropower Project, was destroyed by flash floods brought on by torrential rainfall in the area.
Senator Rehman tweeted, “Massive flash flood at Nullah (RD 303) in Dassu district, KP. Compact bridge has been washed off by the flood surge. The Karakoram Highway is closed from both sides.”
She wrote, “No buses are allowed for now on Babusar road,” noting that the bridge was weak. As the mudflow in the area persists, the National Roadway Authority (NHA) has also issued a travel alert, closing the highway to all types of traffic.
