PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Wednesday challenged the notice of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Peshawar High Court after the bureau on Saturday commenced its country-wide inquiry into PTI’s prohibited foreign funding case.
Asad Qaiser explained to the journalists that he had been at the court to file a complaint against the FIA rather than to request an interim bail. He insisted that the party had opened the account for convenience’s sake and that it wasn’t against the law. He explained, “This account was formed for the pay of employees and office costs.
He added that in the account’s six-year history, only 21 lac worth of transactions had been performed. He claimed that checks had been used for all transactions. According to Former Speaker Qaiser, the FIA is not authorised to investigate this case.
