After a lengthy delay, Pakistan’s famous bowler Shoaib Akhtar is receiving “hopefully” his final knee surgery in Australia.
Last December, the world’s fastest bowler, popularly known as the “Rawalpindi Express,” said that he had a painkillers injection in his knee. In a video posted on Twitter, Akhtar stated that he had five similar surgeries, but that it was all “worth it” because competing for Pakistan as a pace bowler meant a lot to him.
The procedure has been postponed for a few months. Yet this is the anguish I have to bear. “It will be an eight-hour partial knee replacement operation, and maybe I will come out okay […] and I don’t look forward to it,” he stated, pleading with people not to judge him.
In reaction, Pakistan’s former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez expressed hope that the ex-pacer recovers swiftly from the surgery, since he will be in discomfort for two to three weeks, according to Akhtar. “Wishing you a speedy recovery and a healthy life, @shoaib100mph,” Hafeez wrote.
