LAHORE: On Tuesday, Rajanpur and DG Khan in Punjab were visited by Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi. He oversaw relief efforts and gave eight lakh rupee cash help checks to the relatives of those who perished in the flood. He provided flood victims with unwavering assistance and made a fateha offer for the departed. The CM said that all flood-affected places would be classified as calamity-hit and added that hill torrents’ courses would be channelized to prevent harm.
He went to the relief operation centre in Rajanpur’s Shahpur neighbourhood and met with flood victims in addition to seeing relief efforts. Speaking on this occasion, the CM stated that the affected individuals are supported by the Punjab government, and their quick recovery is a top concern. He promised that those in need wouldn’t be abandoned and said that the government had set up medical camps where flood victims were receiving immunizations against diseases. He further stated that each family of the deceased is receiving Rs. 8 lakh in financial aid. I can tell you that the government will continue to do everything in its power to assist the flood victims.
Nasrullah Dareshak, Hasnain Bahadur Dareshak, Mohsin Leghari, Farooq Amanullah Dareshak, Owais Khan Dareshak, commissioner, RPO DG Khan and others were present. CM also visited the Chhatani area of Taunsa and met the flood victims to console them.
Parvez Elahi said in a statement to the media that he will not permit the rights of any flood victim to be infringed. He promised and stated that he had today examined all the flood-affected regions of Rajanpur and DG Khan. Damages to crops and residences will be paid promptly (Tuesday). He continued, “PDMA and line departments will get to work right now on short- and long-term planning.” I was taken here by Khawaja Sahib during the 2004 floods. At the time, I budgeted 2.5 billion for the project and planned to direct the routes of the hill torrents. At that time, the dollar was worth 60 rupees but Shehbaz Sharif did nothing during his stint and wasted 15 years which increased the project cost enormously. Shehbaz Sharif kept talking but did nothing for the poor, he lamented.
The CM said that all the affectees will be served without caring for any political attachment and their hearts will be won. Similarly, the survey will be fully transparent, he added. All MNAs and MPAs here are my colleagues and they are engaged in serving the affected people in the flood-hit areas. The CM ordered to immediately start development work from allocated 20 billion rupees in affected areas and announced to investigate inundation of Shadan Lund food center and its wheat stock. Commissioner DG Khan told that relief camps have been set up and food is being provided to the affectees besides their vaccination.
Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari, Kh. Sheraz Mahmood, Muhammad Hanif Pitafi, Kh. Daud Sulemani, Sardar Saifuddin Khan Khosa, Javed Akhtar Lund, Sardar Mohyuddin Khan Khosa and others were also present.
