The Muharram-ul-Haram moon, which will usher in the new Islamic year of 1444 AH, was not visible to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Friday.
This means that the first day of Muharram will be Sunday and Youm-e-Ashura will be observed on August 9.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting was presided over by Moulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad and held at the Quetta Deputy Commissioner’s office.
