The election to choose the speaker of the Punjab Assembly is currently taking place, and both the ruling coalition and the opposition alliance have fielded candidates.
Following the election of Pervez Elahi as chief minister of Punjab, the seat in the Punjab Assembly became vacant.
Waseem Khan Badozai, an MPA for the PTI, presided over the meeting. The PML-Khalil N’s Tahir Sindhu attempted to raise an objection prior to the start of the voting process regarding the location of the polling booth, claiming that cameras were installed above it. His objection was heard, and the polling place was moved.
After the Opposition objected, the location of the polling place was changed before the vote. Khalil Tahir Sandhu of the PML stated that there are cameras above the voting booth. Nawabzada Waseem Khan Badozai, who was presiding over the meeting, responded that the former’s objections were valid.
In an effort to win the election “effortlessly,” Sibtain Khan predicted that the PML-N would “fail to cause any interruption” during the speaker’s election.
Everyone was able to see what had happened to the PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s letter, which the PML-N had used to win the chief minister election, he claimed.
Prior to the start of the session, PML-Khokhar N’s told the media outside the assembly that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and one of its candidates would prevail. He continued, “They [PTI] will know who is better and who is a thief.”
The PML-N, PPP, and a small number of independents together make up 178 of the MPAs in the opposition to the ruling coalition’s 186. In a secret ballot, there is a good chance of an upset and a very close race.
