LAHORE: There will initially be 25 members of the Punjab government, which Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will lead as provincial chief minister, it was learned on Wednesday.
Names of Raja Basharat, Sibtain Khan, Usman Buzdar, Yasmin Rashid, Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Shahabuddin Seharr, Ghazanfar Abbas Cheena, Taimur Bhatti, Faisal Cheema, Rafaqat Gilani, Murad Raas, Hashim Jawan Bakht, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Ali Afzal Sahi, Zain Qureshi, Aslam Iqbal, Rana Shehbaz, Saifuddin Khosa, Raja Humayun Yasir and Rashid Hafeez are under consideration for different ministerial portfolios.
For the position of Punjab Assembly speaker, however, Mehmoodur Rasheed and Sibtain Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) are making the rounds. On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the Supreme Court ruled that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was the legitimate winner of the Punjab chief minister election and quashed the deputy speaker of the provincial assembly’s decision to deduct 10 votes from the 186 votes he received from the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MPAs who supported him.
