North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un declared that his country is prepared to deploy its nuclear war deterrent and engage in armed conflict with the United States. The two Koreas technically remained at war when the Korean War armistice, which took place 69 years ago on July 27, was signed, according to Kim’s speech.
Since the struggle forced the North to complete an “urgent historical mission” of bolstering its self-defense, Kim claimed that the standoff with the United States presented a nuclear danger.
“Our armed forces are thoroughly equipped to respond to any crisis, and our country’s nuclear war deterrence is also fully ready to mobilise its absolute might faithfully, accurately, and speedily to its task,” he stated.
Although a military official said there were no immediate signs for it, South Korea’s minister of unification in charge of inter-Korean affairs said on Tuesday that the test in time for the anniversary was “possible.”
