ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet gave its approval on Wednesday to withdraw the curative review petition filed in opposition to a high court ruling in the Justice Qazi Faez Isa case.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah claimed there was no precedent for the curative review filed against Justice Isa following the cabinet meeting, which was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and claimed “it was only filed to keep” the judge “under pressure.”

In his words, “Justice Isa is a reputable judge and goons like [former accountability adviser to then prime minister Imran Khan] Shahzad Akbar treated him unfairly.”
The interior minister announced the formation of a subcommittee to pursue legal action against anyone who made “false references” against Justice Isa. In addition, he said that the subcommittee had been asked to submit a report on the subject.
According to Sanaullah, the law secretary informed the federal cabinet members that no prior approval was obtained prior to the submission of the reference, according to what Sanaullah said to the journalists.
Shahzad Akbar and the previous law minister, he continued, “created this commotion.”
