The former prime minister said that Malik’s life was in extreme danger, urging the United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG) and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR).
“His survival is in grave danger. I formally request that India be held accountable and that Yasin Malik’s life be saved by the UNSG, UNHCHR, and international human rights [organizations] “penned Khan.
In May, an Indian court handed down a life sentence for the Kashmiri freedom fighter in a case involving the funding of terrorism.
According to reports, the court gave the Kashmiri leader and head of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) two life sentences instead of the death penalty that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had requested.
