Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI and a former prime minister, has urged citizens to stage nonviolent demonstrations across the nation in opposition to the Punjab Assembly deputy speaker’s decision to invalidate the votes of PML-Q legislators in the chief minister election.
On Friday, he addressed the party’s supporters via video link and claimed, “We knew since yesterday that Asif Ali Zardari was playing some game in Lahore and using money to buy the loyalty of the lawmakers.”
179 votes were cast for the chief minister
Earlier, Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari declared Hamza Shehbaz the winner of the election for chief minister after rejecting 10 votes from the PML-Q and citing a letter from the party leader, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, that forbade MPAs from his party from voting for the PTI candidate. Shehbaz received 179 votes against 186 for Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
The ousted premier further claimed that “conscious trader Asif Zardari” had manipulated the Punjab CM election in favour of PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz by using stolen money.

The former premier claimed that according to the law, it was the party’s parliamentary leader’s prerogative to give instructions to party members and that PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat lacked any authority to do so.
“This “shameless speaker” [Dost Mohammad Mazari] rejected the votes of the PML-Q… they are making a mockery of the democratic process because their billions of rupees are on the line.”
All “eyes are now on the Supreme Court,” according to Imran, who claimed that the PML-Q lawmakers voted in accordance with the directives issued by the party’s parliamentary leader.
“The parliamentary head has the authority to issue directions to the party members. This is clearly stated in Article 63-A.”
“Everyone should come out of their homes and register their protest tonight,” he continued, adding that the demonstration will send a message that the people of the country are politically aware and well-informed. I am surprised to see what happened in the Punjab Assembly today, he continued.
“Chaudhry Shujaat’s letter has no significance because the parliamentary leader takes the decision,”
The PTI leader claimed that because there were billions of rupees on the line, he expected the “mafia” to do whatever it took to maintain their hold on power. They are a mafia that has nothing to do with the country’s people and is in power to steal money and put an end to corruption cases, not politicians.
In the Punjab by-elections, Imran claimed his party waged a vigorous campaign, defeated all coalition parties, and “won the polls despite their attempts to rig the results.”
Additionally, he expressed worry about the state of the economy, claiming that such developments would lead to instability in the nation.
“Since they took power, they destroyed the economy and the rupee experienced an unprecedented depreciation… Even though our economy is already in poor shape, the crisis is only getting worse.
in light of news Hamza Shehbaz received 179 votes against Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s 186, according to Dost Muhammad Mazari, the deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly. He disregarded 10 votes from the PML-Q, citing a letter from the party’s leader, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, which prohibited MPAs from his party from voting for the PTI candidate.
According to reports, all ten PML-Q members of the Punjab Assembly disobeyed Chaudhry Shujaat’s orders and supported Pervaiz Elahi in the race for chief minister. The votes cast by the PML-Q lawmakers were not acknowledged by Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari.

Hamza Shehbaz received 179 ballots. The PML-Q received 10 votes, while PTI received 176, according to the deputy speaker who also announced the results of the contest for the position of chief executive.
The deputy speaker read from the letter that Chaudhry Shujaat had sent and stated, “As party president of the PML-Q, I have instructed my provincial members to vote for Hamza Shehbaz.”
The deputy speaker claimed that he had disregarded the votes of PML-Q lawmakers in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision regarding Article 63-A’s defection clause.
Raja Basharat, the leader of the PTI, spoke on the floor of the house and disputed the deputy speaker’s decision, arguing that in his capacity as caretaker of the chamber, he could not disallow the lawmakers’ votes.
“Chaudhary Shujaat is not permitted to stop members from casting their votes… He claimed that he lacked the power to prevent any member.
The deputy speaker, though, insisted that he was carrying out the Supreme Court’s orders and rejected the PTI leader’s protests.
Earlier today, the political heavy hitters, including PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari, sprang into action to try and save the provincial government led by CM Hamza.
Later, PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi told the media that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the party’s president, had declined to support his cousin Pervez Elahi, a PTI candidate for the position of Punjab chief minister.
“I’ve lost, and Imran Khan has too… A portion of the media quoted him as saying, “Zardari has won.
“There is no video statement available… In an interview with a local TV station, Chaudhry Shujaat said, “I went to meet him, but he refused to record the video.
Chaudhry Shujaat’s instructions to the lawmakers, according to Pervez Elahi, are meaningless in light of Article 63 of the Constitution, and only the parliamentary leader has the authority to give instructions to party members.
Pervez Elahi will be the PML-candidate Q’s for Punjab chief minister, according to a tweet from party leader Chaudhry Hussain Elahi, who claimed that all ten members of the provincial assembly made this decision during the parliamentary meeting.
He continued, “If Deputy Speaker does not permit these votes on the basis of Ch Shujaat letter, he will [be] violating the Pakistani Constitution and his oath!

Ataullah Tarar, the leader of the PML-N, on the other hand, called the letter from the PML-Q parliamentary meeting “fake,” noting that even though the election campaign had been going on for weeks, the party meeting had only been held yesterday.
“This is an afterthought regarding the legal side of the letter. Even though the election campaign has been ongoing for weeks, you still held a party meeting yesterday? No updates or footage were provided? What a loss. Total lies and a fake a letter, typical Moonis Elahi,” he said while responding to Moonis’ tweet.
