Following their victory over England in the opening game of the three-match series this Tuesday at the Oval, the Indian cricket team overtook Pakistan in the most recent ICC ODI team rankings.
The Men in Blue have climbed to third place, passing Pakistan, who are now listed at number four.
India surpassed Pakistan with 108 rating points after their comprehensive 10-wicket victory over England, leaving Pakistan at 106.
With 126 rating points, New Zealand continues to hold the top spot, followed by England in second place with 122.
After sweeping the West Indies last month and climbing to third after Australia’s loss to Sri Lanka, Pakistan passed India to fourth place in the rankings.
India has a chance to increase its lead given that Pakistan will play the Netherlands in an ODI series next month.
India still has two games left against England and a three-game series against the West Indies later this month before that.
