Despite moderate to severe rains in some regions of the nation and a recent rise in the number of Covid cases, the nation celebrated Eidul Azha Pakistan on Sunday with the customary zeal and fervour.
Eidul Azha, one of the most important religious holidays observed by Muslims worldwide, commemorates the completion of Hajj rituals at Mina, Makkah, on the tenth of Zul Hijah (the last month of the Islamic calendar).
Since Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) was willing to sacrifice his only son at Allah’s command, this Eid is known as the “Feast of Sacrifice.” Muslims today emulate the prophet’s submission by butchering sacrificed animals.
To mark the occasion, congregational prayers were held all over the nation. Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s security, development, and prosperity.
Additionally, prayers were offered for the liberation of Palestine, the end of the ongoing conflict and corruption in other Muslim nations, and the release of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by India.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) urged the public to wear masks during Eid-ul-Adha prayers and strictly abide by Covid standard operating procedures due to the customary large gatherings that take place during Eid (SOPs).
Throughout the three days of Eid, there will still be animal sacrifices. Individual and collective sacrifices will be made by citizens in the Almighty’s service.
The needy and underprivileged will receive the sacrificed meat.
