News has arrived! Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra is expected to work on another Hollywood project after her 2021 release of The Matrix: Resurrections, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This time, it was a romantic comedy with Mindy Kaling. The project is the pair’s first appearance on screen as a team. Kaling’s cousin, who was born and raised in India, will be portrayed by the Sky is Pink actor.
Forbes recently spoke with Kaling, who expressed pride in the “diverse representation of the Asian experience in her projects.” More information about the upcoming romantic comedy was revealed by the writer/comedian. The story revolves around a lavish Indian wedding in which Chopra and Kaling will play each other’s cousins. They will come from different Indian cultures, which is interesting.
Kaling continued by describing how various Indian cultures were included in this romantic comedy, which she also co-wrote. She stated: “We display South Asian Americans who are of Southern Indian origin because we are extremely proud of it. Next, a Muslim Indian girl is displayed. We can see how they differ from one another culturally. The culture of Asia is not uniform. If there aren’t any shows that explore and explain this difference, why would people necessarily know that?”
Added she, “I’m an Indian American Bengali girl from the East Coast, and Priyanka Chopra is a Punjabi Indian from India in the movie we’re in together. Because of how different it is, our dynamic together is so enjoyable.”
The Office actress previously expressed her delight at the prospect of working with the former Miss World, whose love of her native nation has furthered the plot. In May 2020, she spoke with FirstPost “Playing with the perceptions that Indians and Indian Americans have of one another was a lot of fun when that movie was being written. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge from Priyanka and her passion for India. It has strengthened my own love and knowledge of India.”
Chopra is currently filming Citadel, an Amazon Prime Video web series starring Richard Madden, a former Game of Thrones actor. In Jee Le Zaraa, the new mother will return to Bollywood alongside celebrities Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
