The PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has called for a meeting with 30-35 former international cricketers on Monday to discuss improvements in Pakistan’s domestic cricket system. The meeting aims to gather suggestions to enhance the appeal of domestic cricket and introduce three new tournaments called “Champions.” This follows Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, where the team did not reach the Super Eight stage, leading to criticism and calls for changes.
In light of recent assessments, the PCB is also reintroducing the Yo-Yo fitness test, with plans to enforce fitness standards nationwide. Fitness levels will determine players’ eligibility for both national and regional teams. The future of Babar Azam as captain remains uncertain, pending recommendations from former cricketers and the head coach Gary Kirsten.
