The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi has begun to sight the Zilhaj moon, according to the religious affairs ministry.
This meeting is being held in the Pakistan Meteorological Department facility in Karachi, with zonal meetings taking place simultaneously in the provincial capitals and Islamabad.
Officials at the Peshawar zonal meeting claimed the moon had been observed, but the central committee will make the formal announcement.
Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court declared the sighting of the Zilhaj moon a day ago, as the Islamic calendar’s last month begins today.
The Haj ceremonies will begin on June 14, followed by the Day of Arafat on June 15. Eid ul Azha will be held throughout the Kingdom on June 16.
Also in RIYADH: The Saudi Supreme Court has proclaimed the sighting of the Zilhaj moon, which coincides with the commencement of the Islamic calendar’s last month today (Friday).
Eidul Azha will be held on June 16.
The Haj ceremonies will begin on June 14, with the Day of Arafat on June 15.
