In 2007, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai appeared on the Cannes red carpet for the first time. In an interview he did in 2012, Abhishek talked openly about the misogyny he experienced. He clarified his views on working women as well.
“There must be two reasons for a guy to try to restrict his wife,” he stated. He is insecure, to start. Second, he doesn’t have faith in her. I am a confident man who has total faith in my wife. So why should I encounter any difficulties? And why limit it to the wife? If a man tries to restrain his mother, girlfriend, or any other girl, it suggests that he is either insecure or does not trust them.
And that’s not the way I was raised. As an actor, my mum has always been employed. How does it feel to walk the red carpet with your wife at Cannes? is a question I am asked frequently. This mindset strikes me as chauvinistic.
The actor said, “How can you stroll with her if you are the husband? Do you ever question Aishwarya about her decision to accompany me on the red carpet at the film premieres? She comes to all of my activities, but I can’t go with her. That is untrue. It is my responsibility to support my wife if she supports me.
