PESHAWAR: Monday’s devastating suicide attack inside a mosque in Peshawar‘s Police Lines neighbourhood claimed the lives of 59 people and injured 157 others, according to officials.
Security officials claim that the suicide bomber was in the front row during the Zuhr prayer when he detonated himself, hurting numerous believers.
The incident was claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned organisation.
According to authorities, Sahibzada Noor Ul Amin, the mosque’s imam, also died in the explosion.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Peshawar, where he is informed of every detail of the explosion.
The injured will also be visited by PM Shehbaz. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah will travel with him.
