Defense Minister Khawaja Asif lashed out at Imran Khan on Sunday for his latest accusation against the co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), accusing him of coming up with a “new mantra” against Asif Ali Zardari. Imran Khan is the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Khan charged Zardari on Friday of planning and funding a plot to kill him and using “terrorists” to carry it out.
The federal minister stated, “In the politics of our country, neither opponents have been slain nor will they be in the future,” while speaking to the media in Sialkot.
Only political divisions are still there, and they will continue to do so in the future, he stressed. The PPP leadership is under threat of death as a result of Khan’s statement, the defence minister claims, adding that “the PPP is a party that maintained its political path despite embracing the martyrdom of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.”
