ISLAMABAD: According to the government’s plan, the Hajj expenses are anticipated to exceed Rs 1 million this year, according to official sources on Tuesday.
Due to the “world economic condition, growing inflation, and depreciation of rupees in the foreign market,” the official resources ruled out the idea of a low-cost Hajj.
They added that there were no chances of the government providing “Hajj subsidies” this year either.
According to the sources, the Hajj Policy, 2023 announcement is anticipated to be presented by the end of February, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony is preparing for an early agreement with the banks that are slated to receive Hajj applications.
They stated that in addition to Hajj applications, other documents such as a passport, three photos, a Corona vaccination certificate, and the pilgrim’s computerised national identity card as well as those of any heirs would also be needed.
They said that all applicants for the Hajj must have a bank account. Sources said that “Saudi Arabia has relaxed the ban on pilgrims above 65 years of age.”
According to reports, the ministry had stepped up coordination with banks, airlines, Saudi authorities, and other parties to ensure the smooth running of the Hajj.
