Irshad Ahmad, the Secretary of the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) made the announcement today in LAHORE that 79 new cases of dengue fever have been reported in Punjab over the past 24 hours.
In a statement that was issued here on Monday, he said that during the previous 24 hours, there had been the following number of cases reported in each of the following locations: 24 in Lahore, 15 in Gujranwala, one each in Multan and Sheikhupura, 2 in Sargodha and Muzaffargarh, and 1 each in Kasur, Okara, Vehari, and Khushab.
He said that a total of 18,091 cases of virus had been documented up to this point in the current year.
“No deaths have been recorded in the last twenty-four hours, but the virus has been responsible for the deaths of 41 individuals so far this year,” The secretary of the P&SHD said that there were now 593 patients receiving treatment in various hospitals around the province.
“During the last twenty-four hours, the anti-dengue squad performed surveillance at a total of 229,542 indoor and 62,192 outdoor stations in an effort to identify dengue larvae.
During the daily monitoring conducted by the anti-dengue squad, which is part of the P&SHD, dengue larvae were eradicated at 1124 different locations around the province, he noted.
