The United Nations has issued a plea for more funds in order to satisfy the immediate needs of those who have been impacted by the floods in Pakistan.
During his daily briefing with media in New York, the Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations, Farhan Aziz Haq, said that just 21 percent of the United Nations’ humanitarian request for 816 million dollars had been paid.
He provided an update on the flood situation in Pakistan, saying that more than three months after the catastrophic floods first started, the devastation caused by them is not even close to being finished.
According to the spokeswoman for the United Nations, the organization is requesting greater cash in order to continue its efforts to save lives.
According to him, it is still difficult to get clean water, sanitation, and hygiene in the regions that have been ravaged by floods. He said that the flooding and standing water have led to an increase in water- and vector-borne illnesses.
According to the spokesperson for the United Nations, millions of people are at risk of experiencing greater food insecurity as a result of families returning to their wrecked homes to find their crops and animals already dead.
