WABetainfo first revealed that a new feature had been developed for WhatsApp’s group conversations one month ago. The website now reports that the update to the feature is now available.
Users of WhatsApp are able to recognize individuals who are members of the groups they are using on the messaging site thanks to a feature called the ability to see profile images while they are participating in group conversations.
According to the website for the WhatsApp news tracker, the feature has been made accessible to iOS users who have updated to the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.70, and it is now finally available to certain beta testers on WhatsApp Desktop as well after the version was updated.
The picture below shows what the group conversations will look like once the feature is turned on. The symbols representing your profile will appear next to the conversation boxes.
However, individuals’ privacy settings will determine whether their profile images are seen by others or hidden from view, and this fact should be kept in mind at all times. If someone’s profile photo is missing or hidden, a default icon for the profile will appear in its place. This symbol will be colored with the same color as is used for the contact name.
In the not-too-distant future, this functionality will be made available to Android users.
