In response to the United States’ claim that North Korea looks to be providing Russia with artillery shells for its conflict in Ukraine, North Korea stated on Tuesday that it has never traded armaments with Russia and has no plans to do so.John Kirby, the spokesperson for national security at the White House, stated last week that the US had information suggesting North Korea is clandestinely supplying Russia with a “substantial” quantity of artillery shells.
According to Kirby, North Korea was trying to hide the shipments by routing them through nations in the Middle East and North Africa, and Washington was keeping an eye on things to see if the supplies were actually received. The claims were dismissed as untrue by a representative of the North Korean defence ministry, who added that Pyongyang has “never conducted ‘arms dealings’ with Russia” and “no plan to do so in the future.”
