LAHORE: On Tuesday, the federal government sent letters to the provincial governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa requesting that law and order be maintained amid the demonstrations that have followed the attack on PTI Chairman Imran Khan. The government has issued a charge sheet to both the Punjab and KP provincial governments, threatening them with “severe consequences” if law and order is not maintained.
Following Khan’s shooting in the legs last week in Wazirabad during the long march, PTI has staged back-to-back rallies around the nation, disrupting people’s daily lives and causing property damage.
The provincial governments have been tasked by the federal government with the “main responsibility” of ensuring the security of the lives and liberties of all residents of the province.According to the letter’s contents, connection roads, highways, and motorways are being stopped by tiny protestor groups, which is causing problems for commuters and delivery drivers.
