KARACHI: Shehroze Kashif, a mountaineer from Pakistan, broke the record for the youngest person to ascend K2 and Mount Everest.Shehroze, also known as Broad Boy, is 19 years old and has scaled two of the world’s largest mountains, the 8,849-meter-tall Everest and the 8,611-meter-tall K2.In 2021, Shehroze was first listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.“Alhumdulilah! He said, “My accomplishment of being the youngest person in the world to summit Everest and K2 has been recognised. Thank you to my family, followers, and #GWR #TheKarakoramclub.Shehroze climbed the 11th-tallest peak in the world, Gasherbrum-1, in August of this year, becoming the youngest climber in history to reach the top of 10 peaks higher than 8,000 metres.
Shehroze summited Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu in Nepal earlier this year in a space of less than a month before climbing Nanga Parbat.This year, as they descended from Nanga Parbat, he and his partner Fazal Ali became trapped in severe weather and temporarily lost contact.
