Despite billionaire Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter Inc. and his promise to restore the former US president’s Twitter account, Donald Trump has stated he intends to use his own Truth Social platform.
Without specifically stating that he will refrain from posting on Twitter if his account is restored, Trump said in a Fox News interview on Friday, “I like Elon, but I’m keeping on Truth.”
According to Trump, when he writes on his own platform, “it travels all over the place regardless.” Everyone who is on Twitter and other social media platforms posted it nonetheless.
Musk, a self-described “absolutist” for free speech, seized control of Twitter on Thursday with merciless efficiency, sacking top executives but providing no detail on how he will carry out his ambitious plans for the powerful social media network.
Just hours after Musk started a new era at Twitter, he was inundated with requests and pleas from individuals with banned accounts and world leaders.
Earlier, in a statement on his own website, Trump expressed his happiness that Musk was in charge of Twitter and that it was in “sane hands,” but he did not indicate if he would reactivate his account on the website that had banned him.
Trump continued, saying he believed his own programme “looks and functions better.”
Others who had their Twitter accounts suspended may shortly have them reinstated.
