Regarding his relationship with Netflix, Prince Harry has been accused of applying “double standards.”
A royal expert criticized Prince Harry for not speaking out against the streaming service’s hit series The Crown and accused him of having “double standards” when it comes to his relationship with Netflix.
The Duke of Sussex has a multi-million dollar deal with the streaming platform himself, but Jane Moore, writing for The Sun, noted that he seemed to be particularly quiet. She went so far as to say that Prince Harry appeared to have “double standards.”
According to Moore, “Whatever happens with the documentary that’s part of the Sussexes’ rumored £83million deal with Netflix, Harry’s failure to criticize The Crown is illuminating.”
“After all, he spends tens of thousands of pounds suing newspapers over every slight, imagined or otherwise, in a bid to protect his wife and the memory of his mother,” she added.
“Yet when his paymasters dramatize and embellish several painful episodes in Princess Diana’s life (including her death in series six, being filmed now), he has said nothing since telling James Corden that “It’s fictional… but it’s loosely based on the truth”. Double standards, one might suggest,” Moore criticized.
The remarks came just days after Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, said to Variety that the couple’s Netflix documentary isn’t “what they wanted,” but that they are delighted for it to premiere.
