Deputy Secretary General of NATO discusses defence technology’s ethical use.
On Tuesday (25 October 2022), Mircea Geoană, the deputy secretary general of NATO, emphasized the importance of adopting creative, unconventional ways to issue solving in order for NATO to effectively address present and future security threats. At the NATO Edge conference in Mons, Belgium, Mr. Geoană told more than 1,000 specialists from business, academia, government, and non-profit organizations, “We want the disruptors from all spheres of life: public, private, and academic. those who act and believe differently. To create a peaceful future, NATO is now bringing together disruptors. Security is everyone’s responsibility.
The NATO Innovation Fund and the Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), both of which will be operational in 2023, are already gearing up to further technological innovation in order to develop “real-world solutions for today’s real-world problems,” according to the Deputy Secretary General.
The NATO Edge conference, with the theme “Technology in Focus,” focuses on four main areas: digital transformation, inventive alliances, technical resilience, and rapid acquisition. NATO Edge, an event hosted by the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency), is the premier showcase of cutting-edge tools and concepts for the Alliance’s digital transformation in 2022.
