Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) president Afzal Butt on Monday demanded the state to conduct an inquiry into the martyrdom of senior journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya’s capital of Nairobi.
The PFUJ president expressed his sorrow at Arshad Sharif’s untimely passing and requested that the Pakistani government launch an investigation.
According to Afzal Butt, the State of Pakistan is in charge of conducting an investigation, and the results should be made public.
Additionally, he requested the federal government to make preparations so that senior journalist Arshad Sharif’s body might be returned to Pakistan for funeral rites.
Upon being involved in an accident on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, the veteran journalist accepted martyrdom.
His death has been confirmed by Kenyan police, who have also launched an investigation into the accident, which most likely involved a shooting.
