In a poll conducted by Billboard on Friday (Oct. 21), music lovers selected Midnights as their top new music release of the previous week.
Swift’s most recent album received almost 66% of the votes, outperforming new songs by Carly Rae Jepsen, Shakira and Ozuna, Arctic Monkeys, and other artists.
After its first day of release on Saturday (Oct. 22), Midnights had a record-breaking start in terms of sales in the United States. Initial indications indicate that through its first day of availability across all media, the album had sold more than 800,000 copies in the United States. It has already had the highest sales week for an album since 2017, is the best-selling album of 2022 thus far, and established a record for vinyl album sales in a single week.
The 13-track album included a “chaotic” bonus when it was released as the 3 am Edition, which provided listeners seven more brand-new songs.
