ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) have now voiced strong opposition to the three nominations of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial for their elevation to the Supreme Court while disregarding the principle of seniority in response to Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s inquiries regarding judicial nominations.
The responses follow the announcement that the Pakistani Judicial Commission will meet on Monday (tomorrow) to discuss candidates for open positions in the supreme court.
For the five open positions on the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Justice Athar Minallah, two judges from the Sindh High Court, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shafi Siddiqui, and Justice Shahid Waheed from the Lahore High Court have been nominated by the CJP.
