Taliban to call their men back to Afghanistan
Swat: Barrister Saif, the spokesperson of the provincial government, has said that he appeals to the TTP in his personal capacity to call their people who came to Pakistan back to Afghanistan. An environment conducive to the restoration of peace can be created.
Barrister Saif, the spokesperson of the provincial government and a member of the negotiating team with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, while briefing the media at the Swat Press Club, said that the process of bringing back Pakistanis living in Afghanistan through negotiations started in 2021, which resulted in a significant number of people had returned.
He said that an unconditional and indefinite ceasefire has been imposed by the TTP. During the negotiation phase, a few incidents took place in Pakistan and a few in Afghanistan, due to which the negotiation phase has been stalled.
Parliament has been taken into confidence on the whole situation. Barrister Saif added that the Steering Committee under the National Action Plan is looking into it.
“The provincial government, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan is carefully reviewing the situation in Swat and calling meetings of top security officials from time to time. My words are the same as the Chief Minister’s. Therefore, the allegation that the Chief Minister is silent is false” he added.
He said that no agreement has been reached in the negotiation process with the Taliban. The allegations that the Taliban have been brought back to these areas under a conspiracy are also baseless. The central government has not cooperated with us in this matter. While the federal investigation agencies are also working on the direction of the central government.
Barrister Saif said that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is not even providing data on calls received from unknown locations.
He said that a plan will be prepared as a result of the negotiation process to bring back the 15,000 Pakistanis in Afghanistan, in which there will be barely 3,400 Taliban.
“To bring them back, such a way must be adopted so that the peace of Pakistan is not harmed” he added
