LONDON: In a high-profile case initiated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) under former accountability adviser Shahzad Akbar, Interpol has removed businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor from the list of people who are wanted globally (Red Notice).
After an application was filed by actor Sophia Mirza (also known as Khushbakhat Mirza), the ex-wife of Dubai-based businessman Zahoor, with assistance from Akbar, who had instructed the FIA to pursue Zahoor at any costs, the Interpol put the businessman to the Red Notice database.
Zahoor is no longer the target of an Interpol Notice or Diffusion, according to the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in Lyon.
