China plans to complete the construction of its space station by the end of this year. The project represents the country’s consistent advancement in space exploration and international cooperation. Zheng Yibing has the information.
The module, a lab, a spacecraft, and a cargo ship are now preparing to dock with a second lab, forming a T shape and completing the station.
China Manned Space Program Chief Designer ZHOU JIANPING “The China Space Station’s main structure now consists of three modules and three spacecraft weighing approximately 100 tonnes. When finished, it will be breathtaking.”
China has made significant efforts in this regard over the last ten years. The various components of the station were designed, manufactured, and tested by Chinese scientists.
During this time, the time required to dock in space has been reduced from 44 hours to just seven. The astronauts’ stay in space has also increased from 13 days to half a year.
The first lab module hosted a number of scientific experiments that the taikonauts did, and the second lab, which will soon dock with the station, will host more.
Wentian Space Application System chief designer ZHAO LIPING of the Chinese Academy of Sciences For instance, some of the experiments seek to understand how plants and animals respond to space’s microgravity. This will contribute to laying the groundwork for future human spaceflight.
According to the China Manned Space Agency, China has started collaborating with other nations on projects like lunar and martian probes and future missions in the space station for the benefit of all people.
“China Space Station reflects the phased outcome of the country’s 30-year manned space effort,” says ZHENG YIBING of Beijing.
