KARACHI: For the ninth working day in a row, the Pakistani rupee rose against the US dollar on Wednesday in the interbank market.Data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) show that the rupee increased by Rs1.7, or 0.76%, to settle at Rs223.94 in the interbank market.Rupee increased by Rs1.65, or 0.73%, to reach Rs225.64 versus the US dollar on Tuesday.
Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, promised the populace earlier this week that his initiatives will assist lower the value of the dollar to under 200.During the Geo News show “Capital Talk,” he stated that the Pakistani rupee’s actual value was less than 200 versus the US dollar and that it would eventually be devalued because it is now too low.Internationally, the dollar is strong, but the government “will push it down below 200” soon, he said.
