In our capacity as fashion editors, we are aware that outfit ideas can originate from anywhere. Anything that makes your fashion senses tingle is ripe for the picking, whether it’s a person on the Tube, a carefully curated Instagram feed, an old magazine photo, or a certain colour scheme in a hotel lobby (just me?)
There will always be the more avant-garde designers who utilise their runway shows as an artistic statement rather than a lookbook, which is excellent for the more outgoing dressers among us but less suitable for casual outfits. The secret is to figure out which companies (or creative directors, for that matter) best represent your unique style, keep a close eye on their exhibitions, and get ready to take notes.
This season, preppy fashion is everything to me. I’m referring about Khaite’s fabulously enormous blazer-and-jeans shapes, Prada’s elegant and lovely pleated skirts, Louis Vuitton’s suiting that was inspired by Annie Hall, and Saint Laurent’s floor-length gowns that were fit for a main character. However, we urge you to make your own personal, brand-filled mental or physical moodboard for the upcoming season.
