On Wednesday, Hurricane Ian began battering Florida’s Gulf Coast with ferocious winds and pouring rain, forcing officials to advise people that it was too late to flee as the storm’s eye crept closer to the coast with nearly Category 5 intensity.Video images of the storm’s fury on local TV and social media showed floodwater nearly reaching rooftops in some communities, sweeping away cars, and the ruins of homes as palm trees were bent almost in half.
A user who posted one of these videos on Twitter described the startling sight of a shark swimming in the flood water directly in the middle of the road.Although the user claims it was a shark, it is impossible to tell from the image what kind of fish it was. Some social media users have noted that they feel afraid after watching the video, while others have said that the clip was “fake”.Nevertheless, locals told Newsweek that they had been seeing a variety of dangerous creatures in the water, including alligators and snakes.
