Miftah Ismail, the leader of the PML-N, handed the country’s prime minister Shehbaz Sharif his letter of resignation on Tuesday, formally resigning from his position as finance minister.Following the party’s decision, he had verbally submitted his resignation to PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif in London on Sunday.
Later, he posted on Twitter, saying: “I have verbally resigned as finance minister in a meeting with Mian Nawaz Sharif and PM Shehbaz Sharif today. I will present a formal resignation upon returning to Pakistan. It’s been an honour to serve twice as finance minister. Pakistan Paindabad.”
At a meeting of PML-N leaders in London, including Nawaz Sharif and PM Shehbaz, it was decided to replace Miftah as the finmin.
Miftah thanked Nawaz for his support and expressed his gratitude over the past four months, during which he did his best to serve the country and his party while maintaining his loyalty.
