The World Health Organization has been warning for a number of years that almost all of the air we breathe is polluted and that this is responsible for the deaths of seven million people annually, 90% of whom are living in low- and middle-income nations.
A resolution establishing September 7 as the “International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies” was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2019. The resolution emphasised the urgent need to increase public awareness at all levels and to encourage and support initiatives to enhance air quality.
Otto, Martina It’s common to think of air pollution as a major regional and international issue. Many nations have made attempts to reduce emissions, but they are certainly not at the necessary level.
We also can’t tackle this by taking isolated actions because airborne pollutants frequently move across great distances. Since we all share the same air, we must also share the answers.
