ISLAMABAD: The advancement and defence of minorities’ rights are of utmost importance to Pakistan. Their rights are recognised by the judiciary and guaranteed under Pakistan’s Constitution. The safeguarding of human rights for all citizens, particularly minorities, is a top priority for the Pakistani Parliament. When US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain visited her in New York, Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar made this statement.
According to the minister of state, Pakistan’s strength is its diversity of religions, and religious minorities have a significant impact on the country’s socioeconomic progress. They have representation in the legislature, courts, and services. According to a news release issued here, deliberate attempts are being undertaken to include them into the political system.
The minister of state emphasised that the world community, notably the US, should be extremely concerned about India’s increasing intolerance, rising extremism, persecution of minorities, and continuous repression of Kashmiris in IIOJ&K.
Rashad Hussain expressed his sorrow for the loss of priceless lives, valuable possessions, and essential infrastructure as a result of Pakistan’s catastrophic flooding. He valued Pakistan’s ongoing dialogue with the US on matters pertaining to religious freedom.
