The girl who was discovered hanging in a room of her home in Korangi, Karachi, had been slain before being hung, an autopsy performed by a female medicolegal official concluded.
The MLO said that the dead had endured years of abuse and torture. Police believe that she was murdered by her abuser out of concern that she would expose him.
According to the complaint of the victim’s father, Abu Tahir Jamalud Din, Zaman Town Police have opened a case of murder of a 12-year-old girl at House No. F/110 Usman Town Sector C/50 Korangi.
The 2020 In Charge of Anti Rape Investigation and Trial will look into the situation. The victim’s father informed the police during the recording of his statement in the case that he lived at the specified location and worked as a labourer to support himself and his children.
His wife left behind four children—two daughters and two younger sons—when she passed away three years ago.
He stated that before leaving for work, he used to give his children to his older daughter. He reported for work as normal on September 21, 2022, and left at 4 p.m.
The house’s front entrance was secured from the inside. He knocked on the door, but nobody answered. In the meantime, his elder daughter emerged from a neighbouring home and informed him that Saad, his son, had been removed by her at 3 o’clock and had gone to the tutor. Mehnaz Kainat, his younger daughter, was alone herself at home at the time.
Shahnaz, his eldest daughter, returned at 3:30 and knocked on the door, but Mehnaz did not answer it from inside, so Shahnaz proceeded to the neighbor’s house, according to Abu Tahir.
After hearing some noises, the nearby neighbours and locals requested Fahad to run inside and unlock the door. When they entered, they saw Mehnaz hanging from the ceiling with a dupatta in her hands.
Abu Tahir claimed to have taken Mehnaz to Government Hospital No. 5, but when he was told to travel to Jinnah Hospital, he did. The daughter was not alive, according to the medics, who examined the girl. Later, the police had a female medicolegal officer do an autopsy, which proved that the dead had been mistreated and tortured for a considerable amount of time.
On Thursday, Mehnaz was put to rest. There has been no real advancement in the probe thus far. The impacted family has lived in the same region for a long time and was unaware that anyone else lived there.
The deceased’s father stated that his family had been in the same place for the previous 40 years. Even if he has no suspicions, he has inquired for information at the madrassa, the tutoring facility, and the neighbourhood. The daughter, according to him, had never even brought up a complaint.
Everything was as it should be, she showed interest in her academics, and the daughter’s routine did not change in the days leading up to her passing.
