NEW YORK: In a civil probe of the former U.S. president’s business activities, the New York state attorney general filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump and his adult children on Wednesday for “multiple acts of fraud and deceit,” according to court records.
The Trump Organization was accused of wrongdoing in the complaint, which was filed in a New York state court in Manhattan, regarding the preparation of Trump’s annual statements of financial status from 2011 to 2021. Additionally identified as defendants were the Trump Organization, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and the former president’s son.
According to Attorney General Letitia James, Donald Trump and the Trump Organization overstated the worth of their real estate holdings in order to qualify for advantageous loans and tax advantages. She declared that she was reporting claims of criminal wrongdoing to the Internal Revenue Service and federal prosecutors in Manhattan.
