BANGKOK: According to a government spokeswoman, Thailand’s government anticipates receiving up to 2.38 trillion baht (about 64.3 billion US dollars) in tourism-related earnings in 2023.
The Thai government has set a target to get the revenue back to 80% of its 2019 level in 2023 as the tourist sector, a major contributor to the country’s economic growth, has continued to improve, according to acting government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri.
The Thai government anticipates earning 1.5 trillion baht (about 40.5 billion dollars) from foreign visitors and 880 billion baht (roughly 23.8 billion dollars) from local travellers in 2023, according to Anucha.
Anucha stated that the number has surpassed 1 million so far this month and that the nation anticipates receiving 1.5 million visitors every month during the final three months of this year. This year, the nation hopes to welcome 10 million visitors.
