Ramiz Raja, the head of Pakistan’s cricket team, criticised rowdy fan behaviour following his squad’s stunning one-wicket victory over Afghanistan in the Asia Cup in Sharjah.
Following Wednesday’s game, videos of supporters fighting and damaging stadium property went viral on social media.Raja, a former Pakistan player who is now the board chairman, said: “You don’t link hooliganism with cricket and this is wrong.”
“Emotions should be kept in check, we own our followers, and we lodge a protest with the ICC (International Cricket Council) since this game doesn’t want such an environment, the images were extremely awful, and this wasn’t the first time such a thing happened.”
