PIA Announces 30% Fare Reduction for Flights to Jeddah and Madinah
In a move aimed at alleviating the financial strain on travelers, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has unveiled a substantial 30% reduction in fares for flights from Karachi to Jeddah and Madinah. This decision is part of the airline’s broader efforts to make travel more affordable and accessible.
According to a spokesperson for PIA, the new one-way fare from Karachi to either Jeddah or Madinah is set at Rs56,000, inclusive of taxes. Additionally, the round-trip fare for these routes has been reduced to Rs88,000, also inclusive of taxes. The reduced fares are available for booking until August 31, 2024, and are applicable for travel up to September 30, 2024. The spokesperson emphasized that the new fares are effective immediately.
This fare reduction follows an earlier initiative by PIA to lower prices for Umrah flights. In June, the airline announced a price cut for Umrah flight tickets to facilitate pilgrims traveling to Madinah for the lesser pilgrimage. Under the new pricing structure, a round-trip ticket from Lahore or Islamabad to Madinah is priced at Rs86,000, while a round-trip ticket from Karachi to Madinah costs Rs76,000. Previously, the Umrah ticket was priced at Rs120,000, indicating a significant reduction in travel costs.
The spokesperson noted that the discounted fares for Umrah flights were implemented immediately and remained valid until July 15, 2024. This move was designed to benefit Umrah pilgrims by providing them with more affordable travel options during the pilgrimage season.
PIA’s decision to lower fares comes at a time when travelers are seeking cost-effective solutions amid rising travel expenses. By offering these discounts, PIA aims to make it easier for passengers to undertake religious and other significant journeys. The reduction in fares is expected to attract more travelers and support those planning their trips to the holy cities of Jeddah and Madinah.
The airline’s efforts to adjust its pricing strategy reflect its commitment to addressing the financial challenges faced by travelers and enhancing accessibility to key destinations. The new fare structure is expected to provide relief to many passengers, making it more feasible for them to undertake their planned journeys.
As the discount period is set to last until the end of August, travelers are encouraged to take advantage of the reduced fares and make their bookings as soon as possible. The changes in fare pricing align with PIA’s ongoing efforts to improve service offerings and support its passengers during these challenging times.v
