COAS discharge summary still hasn’t begun by Defense Ministry.

The process of compiling the COAS discharge summary has not yet been initiated by the Defense Ministry.

COAS discharge summary

The summary for the dismissal of the current COAS, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, has not yet been given by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) in accordance with Rule 12 of the Pakistan Army Act of 1954 as of the 29th of November.

On Tuesday, the Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif stated that consultations regarding the choice of the army chief will begin after November 18 or 19. He also made it clear that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) does not have a ‘preferred’ candidate in mind for the role.

Asif Ali Zardari, a former president of Pakistan and the current co-chairperson of the People’s Party of Pakistan, was speaking to journalists outside the parliament house when he dismissed rumors that he and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif were at an impasse regarding the selection of the next army chief.

Since the dialogue has not yet begun, he had previously stated that a stalemate was out of the question.

Even if the rumored deadlock did not exist, the procedure would still be clouded by uncertainty because the COAS’s retirement notification has not yet been released.

A Supreme Court ruling on the extension of the COAS revealed in 2019 that the process by which General Qamar Javed Bajwa was nominated as army head by the previous government entailed multiple steps.

On November 15, 2016, the Ministry of Defense submitted a summary to the Prime Minister about General Raheel Sharif’s retirement. On November 28, 2016, the premier recommended to the president that General Bajwa be promoted to the rank of General, and he also offered his approval for General Raheel Sharif’s retirement.

Finally, on November 29, 2016, the Ministry of Defense announced General Bajwa’s promotion and appointment as Chief of Army Staff.

This week, PTI leader Imran Khan criticized the government for amending the Army Act “for its own benefit” in light of the controversy surrounding the selection of a new army chief. further claiming that the current administration has filled all positions with people who will benefit them personally.

In spite of these rumors, government sources have told The Express Tribune there is no such plot because the president may easily veto any such amendment or law before November 27.

Since the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media department of the military, confirmed last week that COAS would doff his uniform on November 29 at the finish of his six-year tenure, the controversy over the nomination of the next leader has increased.

A political impasse has resulted from former prime minister Imran Khan’s long march, which is related to the ongoing debate. Imran has denied that his long march is intended to influence the appointment of the army chief, but political observers are skeptical.

According to precedent, the Prime Minister’s Office will be given a list of the five most qualified generals from the Ministry of Defense to choose from when selecting the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the chief of the army staff. If the prime minister is unsatisfied with the names provided, he has the option to request additional names.

Probably, the summary for the appointments of key vacancies in the military will be pushed back closer to the date of COAS retirement. It’s likely that the official announcement will be made just days before the handover of power.

In order of seniority following COAS, the next five highest-ranking generals are as follows: Lt. Gen. Numan Mahmood, President of National Defence University; Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, Corps Commander Bahawalpur; Lt. Gen. Azhar Abbas, Chief of General Staff; Lt. Gen. Asim Munir, QuarterMaster General; Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Corps Commander Rawalpindi

According to intelligence reports, Imran Khan’s life is in danger: IHC

Intelligence reports claim that Imran Khan’s life is in danger: IHC

intelligence reports claim Imran khan life is in danger

Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Aamer Farooq stated on Friday based on intelligence information that there were concerns about another attack on former prime minister Imran Khan

He made the comment while listening to a plea from merchants who were affected by road closures as a result of the protesting group.

Previously, Justice Farooq had requested a report from the Islamabad police inspector general and an intelligence report on the plea and instructed the interior ministry to plan for peaceful protests in the capital city.

The judge during today’s hearing indicated that there was a chance of another attempt on Imran’s life, citing intelligence files presented in court.

“It is the duty of the government and the state to investigate the matter,” he stated.

According to an intelligence report, It is worth noting that on November 3 the PTI leader was shot while leading the party’s long march through the city of Wazirabad in Punjab. Moazzam Nawaz, an ardent supporter of the PTI, was slain, and 14 people, including the former premier, were injured.

‘PTI must submit a fresh plea for protest’

Imran will "suit" a local news anchor because "enough is enough"

At the outset of the hearing intelligence report, the IHC CJ instructed the PTI to submit a fresh plea to the Islamabad administration seeking permission to stage a sit-in in the capital.

He argued that it was not the court’s role to assign space for the sit-in, saying, “If the issue is not resolved, a fresh petition can also be filed.”

Permission for D-Chowk or F-9 park is entirely up to the administration’s whim.

In his ruling, Justice Farooq noted that the protest’s guidelines should be set by the administration. He then added, “The Supreme Court also ordered the same thing.”

The court also requested an update on the situation in other provinces and inquired as to whether or not roads in Islamabad remained closed.

PTI supporters across the country took to the streets in protest after the shooting in Wazirabad, prompting the federal government to reprimand the provincial governments.

What happened to the federal government’s directives to the province? When asked what would happen if provinces disobeyed federal orders, IHC CJ remained ominously silent.

He continued by saying that protesting was a democratic right of every political and non-political group, but that it was also vital to protect the rights of ordinary people.

Even in England, 10 Downing Street is a popular meeting place. But,” he emphasized, “they’re not stopping traffic; they’re just protesting.

Justice Farooq told the PTI lawyer, “When the SC said they can’t stop the long march, you blocked the GT Road and other motorways.” He then urged the party to “demonstrate responsibility.”

He then restated that the PTI will need to reapply to the government for permission to organize a protest. Once approval is granted, “make sure roads are not blocked and citizen rights are protected.”

The hearing was postponed until November 22 as a result.

The petition

ex pm imran khan s life under threat says ihc cj while citing intel reports 1668765531 1563

Traders noted in their appeal filed earlier this week that the Supreme Court had previously requested an assurance from the PTI that it would limit its demonstration to a particular location.

But the party went against its word and marched towards D-Chowk, where it burned down trees and vandalized public buildings.

It also stated that the event was canceled due to fears of violence.

According to the petition, political party protests should be interpreted in light of what happened in 2014, when one party staged a sit-in in the city for about five months, during which time several government institutions were destroyed, including Parliament House and Pakistan Television.

It asked the court to prevent the political group from entering the commercial areas of Islamabad. The PTI could be given permission for a public demonstration on the condition that it agrees to stay within the boundaries of the predetermined location outside of the outskirts of the capital city.

The region that will be severely hurt by the gas shortage, according to reports, is Punjab, where Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited won’t have enough supply. It is mainly because Punjab plays a smaller part in output than Sindh, Balochistan, and KPK.

According to Article 158 of the Constitution, the province that supplies the gas has priority claim to it. Home consumers in Punjab will get at preset times during the day, despite the fact that the situation may be better in other provinces.

Imran’s claims of a global scheme have never been supported by evidence.

Imran’s assertions of a foreign conspiracy are false: US

Imran assertions of foreign conspiracy

The United States has stated that former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan’s claims that the United States was plotting to overthrow his government through a “regime change” were false, and it has reaffirmed its commitment to its bilateral relations with Pakistan despite the prevalence of “misinformation” and “propaganda” in the region.

When asked to comment on Imran khan’s apparent “backtracking,” US State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel said during a press briefing on Wednesday, “As we’ve previously said, there has — there is not and there has never been a truth to these allegations, but I don’t have anything additional to offer.”

Since his dismissal from power in April via a no-confidence vote — the first such expulsion of any prime minister in Pakistan’s history — Imran has accused the United States and the current leadership in Islamabad of conspiring to overthrow his government.

In a recent interview with Financial Times, however, he stated that he no longer “blamed” the US government for his ouster and that he hoped for a “dignified” relationship between Washington and Islamabad.

When asked about the United States suspected involvement in the conspiracy, he stated, “As far as I’m concerned it is over, it’s behind me.”

Opponents interpreted his comments as a retreat from his accusations, but Imran and the PTI leadership insisted that his words had been misunderstood and twisted.

On Wednesday, when asked for his thoughts on the topic, Vedant began by noting, “The US values our longstanding cooperation with Pakistan and has always viewed a prosperous and democratic Pakistan as critical to US interests.”

That has not altered.

The United States does not support “one political candidate of a party over another,” he added.

When done peacefully, we fully back the defense of democratic, constitutional, and legal norms. Our relationship with Pakistan is a valued bilateral partner, and we will not allow propaganda, misinformation, or disinformation to damage it.

When pressed for further clarification, Vendant replied, “As we’ve previously said, there has — there is not and there has never been a truth to these allegations, but I have nothing additional to offer.”

It was then brought to his attention that Imran had previously called his trip to Russia on the eve of Moscow’s war on Ukraine “embarrassing” in an interview with the Financial Times.

When questioned about the timing of the visit last year, the PTI government defended it as being in keeping with the shift in policy toward geoeconomics.

Moreover, Imran clarified to Financial Times that preparations for the visit began months in advance.

‘Tread with caution: Analysts comment on PM Imran’s Russia trip amid Ukraine tensions

Thus, Vedant concluded, “I really don’t have anything else to offer on foreign minister — or former prime minister Khan’s comments on that.”

Vendant said, “I don’t have any specific meetings or calls to read out,” in response to “rumors” that PTI leaders met with the US ambassador in Islamabad.

Evaluation of flood damage at $30 billion is seriously erroneous

The flood assessment, which cost $30 billion, is profoundly inaccurate.

flood damage evaluation is not enough

A shocking admission was made by a high-ranking official: the government did not have district-wise data on the population affected by the recent floods in the country, casting doubt on the Post-Disaster Need Assessment report that estimated losses at more than $30 billion.

While answering a question from a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance on Wednesday, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Director (Operations) Brig Muhammad Umar made the shocking admission that the agency had ignored the human cost in terms of manpower and resources.

The lack of information has resulted in hundreds of thousands of people affected by floods going without necessities like blankets and tents as winter approaches, as revealed by committee proceedings.

The committee meeting was called to discuss the relief and rehabilitation effort in the flood-affected areas, and whether or not punitive action was taken against the commercial banks that manipulated the exchange rate.

When MNA Dr. Nafisa Shah asked the NDMA’s director (operations) how many people had been affected by the flood in the Khairpur district of Sindh, he responded, “I do not have the data of the affected people.”
Dr. Shah asked the question after learning that the authority had distributed 9,380 tents and 9,000 blankets in Dr. Shah’s district of Khairpur.

Dr. Shah estimates that between 100,000 and 150,000 people in the Khairpur district were impacted by the floods. Thousands of people in her district, she said, had been left to the mercy of the harsh weather and were desperately looking for shelter and warm clothing because the NDMA did not yet have town- and district-level data available.

She also noted that while “there is no denying the fact that the relief goods are coming,” there is currently no information available at the level of the union council. The MNA reported that the process of listing homes had begun, but she expressed frustration at the slow pace at which it was progressing.

632ceaf8192e0

Moreover, the PDNA report, which was compiled by the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, and the European Union, has been called into question as a result of these revelations, as have the government’s promises to help the people affected by the flood.

The total cost of damages and losses is estimated at $30 billion, while the cost of reconstruction is calculated at $16.3 billion. However, the 33 million people who the government and the PDNA reports say were affected by the floods are not specified.

Over 33 million people have been impacted by the flooding that has submerged one-third of the country. Almost eight million people have been uprooted, the PDNA claims. More than 1,700 people, including a third of all children, were reported dead as a result of the floods.

Dr. Shah, on the other hand, said that the number of child deaths, including those caused by water-related illnesses, was closer to 5,000 to 6,000 in her district alone. Dr. Shah said that while some families have gotten food parcels more than once, other families haven’t gotten any at all because they don’t have the right paperwork.

download 21

While it is unclear how many people have been affected, Pakistan has been asking for international aid in an effort to reach out to those who have. For the most immediate needs of 9.5 million people, Pakistan upgraded its emergency aid appeal to United Nations members in October, asking for $816 million. But as of October 21st, just 13.7 percent of the total sum asked has been funded, as reported by PDNA.

Standing committee chairman Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) also addressed the problem of a lag in punishing commercial banks for currency manipulation.

The ruling alliance’s legislators lost patience after the economic team failed to lower the dollar’s value against the rupee to below Rs200, as evidenced by the proceedings, which included the imposition of fines.

Chaudhry Barjees Tahir, a senior lawmaker for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, has demanded that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar appear before the standing committee and explain why he has been unable to lower the dollar’s value to below Rs200.

Tahir claimed that the wealthy banks were allowed to continue gambling with the nation’s future while the poor were punished for committing minor offenses. That no measures have been taken against financial institutions is the day’s most notable development.

Bank hearings are “almost complete,” according to SBP Deputy Governor Dr. Inayat Hussain, and “internal validation” is currently underway at the central bank. Similar to what the SBP governor said earlier this week, he stated that the penalties against the banks would be imposed by November 30.

Hussain stated that the value of the rupee was under constant pressure due to a lack of capital inflows and insufficient financial inflows caused by both external and internal issues. The acting governor expressed optimism that things would turn around in the coming months.

MNA Khalid Magsi of the government-aligned Balochistan Awami Party asked, “First we tried Miftah Ismail, and then we tried Ishaq Dar, now who is next in line?” According to him, the country’s economic trajectory is still uncertain. According to Magsi, “the SBP appears to be lenient on the banks.”

The SBP informed the standing committee that it had conducted an assessment of the significantly increased foreign exchange income of the banks in the first half of 2022 based on regular monitoring and complaints received from banks’ customers regarding charging higher margins in the opening of import LCs.

According to Dr. Shah, this statement shows that the SBP is defending the commercial banks by claiming that the significant increase in foreign exchange income is primarily due to the rise in daily volatility of the exchange rate, which in turn resulted in the widening of the spreads charged by the banks.

Despite a visit from the Taliban, the border dispute with Chaman remains unresolved: 17 November 2022

A visit by the Taliban was not successful in resolving the Chaman border issue.

taliban visit fails to resolve chaman dispute

A member of the Frontier Corps reportedly committed suicide after being shot at the Friendship Gate on Sunday, and a delegation from the Afghan Taliban administration reportedly travelled to Chaman to express their condolences to the Pakistani security officials responsible for his death.

During their time at Friendship Gate, the Afghan Taliban communicated with Pakistani border patrol agents. They mourned the soldier’s passing and called it a tragic accident.

According to the reports, Kabul and Islamabad have been in touch about reopening the border. There has been no word on whether or not the border will open until the Taliban hand over the perpetrators of the firing to Pakistan.

Family members of Pakistanis and Afghans have safely returned home.

According to Dawn, a senior official of the Chaman administration said, “We allowed all Pakistanis to come back to Chaman from Afghanistan who produced required legal documents, which proved their Pakistani nationality.”

Supreme Court rejects registrar’s G-B CM objections

The Supreme Court has rejected the registrar’s objections to the G-B CM plea.

supreme court rejects registrars objections

Supreme Court of Pakistan overrode the registrar’s office’s objections to a petition challenging the appointment of a judge and the extension given to three judges of the Gilgit-chief Baltistan’s court by the Pakistani government. The court said that the petition raised important questions about the governance of the region, which the government had previously ignored.

Earlier, G-B Chief Minister Khalid Khursheed Khan had veteran lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan file a constitutional petition under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, naming the federal government, the G-B governor, and the recently appointed Judge Chief Court Javed Ahmed as respondents.

The judge stated that the Civil Aviation Authority case had already dealt with the issue of governance in G-B and related matters, such as the availability of fundamental rights to the people.

“There is no denying that the right to justice and the judicial system’s independence are fundamental rights, the protection of which can be sought in appropriate cases through petitions filed either with the High Court or the Supreme Court.

According to the Supreme Court’s order, “Matters relating to or arising out of the Order in relation to GB, especially questions relating to the enforcement of fundamental rights, are prima facie not within the remit of any High Court and this Court is, therefore, the appropriate forum for pursuing the same.” “In other words, it contributed.

Given that “fundamental questions relating to the governance of GB may also need to be addressed,” as one of the petitions states, “this only strengthens my conclusion that prima facie the office objections are without merit.”
A ruling was made that dismissed the office’s protests.

In accordance with the Court’s established method and practice, “the constitutional petitions are to be recorded, numbered, and set in court. Respondents have the right to challenge the legality of the petitions and any other claims made in them if and when they are served with process (or if they want to voluntarily appear before the Court).

No major modifications to Army Act are being contemplated, says the defense minister.

The defense minister says that the government is not planning any “major changes” to the Army Act.

army act are being contemplated with no modification

In response to all the talk in the media about changes to the Pakistan Army Act (PAA), Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the government has no plans to make “major changes” to the Act.

Asif said in a tweet that the media’s attention to changes to the PAA was “uncalled for”

In his statement, Asif, who is in charge of defense, said that the government has no plans to change the Army Act in a big way. In a ruling from 2019, the Supreme Court asked that important parts of the Army Act be looked at again, he said.

He also said that the decision of the highest court would be followed in due time.

The defense minister said this because a local newspaper said that the law would be changed in a big way.

In a report, Daily Dawn said that the government “seems” to be thinking about changing the army act so that the prime minister, who makes appointments, can keep “any candidate through a simple notification, rather than having to go through a complex, constitutional process” instead of going through a complicated constitutional process.

The report also said that the report will be presented to the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC) after a few changes. This will happen after the Ministry of Defense gave its approval last month. Later, it will be brought to the parliament to be passed into law.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa is retiring next month, so the army will soon have a new leader. The army chief is busy saying goodbye to people right now.

PML-N, which has the most influence in the ruling coalition, has decided that the position will go to the most senior military official whose name is at the top of the list sent to the prime minister.

Pakistan is a great place for American businesses to invest because of its strategic location.

The unique geoeconomic position of Pakistan makes it a prime location for US investors

pakistan geostratic position makes it prime location for business

According to Masood Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, Pak’s favorable geoeconomic position and remarkable demographic cohorts make it a desirable destination for U.S. investors and firms.

In an exclusive meeting with the PACC board of directors in Los Angeles, he voiced his gratitude for the organization’s efforts to strengthen commercial links between Pakistan and the United States.

Although trade between the two countries increased from $8.5 to $12 billion last year, he noted that even more growth was possible through increased economic cooperation in specific areas like technology, IT tourism, extractive industry, oil and gas exploration, manufacturing, healthcare, and agriculture.

Businessmen from the healthcare industry joined those from the textile, banking, logistics, solar, and Fintech industries at the event.

In addition, the Ambassador emphasized the significance of expanding commercial connections with California, whose economy is worth $3.5 trillion. Trade between the two countries is significant, he said, with Pakistan’s exports to California totaling $457 million last year and imports costing $138 million, for a surplus of $319 million.

The ambassador said that Pakistan is often overlooked because of its small size, despite the country’s large consumer market. He claimed that eighty American businesses had been operating in Pak for decades, all the while raking in millions in revenue. He urged the group’s members to have faith in Pak’s economy and expand their businesses there, saying that doing so would attract the attention of other investors.

The Ambassador acknowledged their worries about Pak’s regulatory systems but assured them that the country’s government was working to make doing business easier. Some of these measures were the simplification of taxation, the protection of intellectual property, the relaxation of restrictions on obtaining visas for business travel, and the introduction of cyber laws.

He said that this was the reason why 203 million USD in earnings were brought home from 257 million USD in U.S. foreign direct investment the previous year. French, Chinese, German, Singaporean, South Korean, and Japanese firms are among those investing in Pakistan’s information technology industry. He extended an invitation to the Pakistani American business community to participate in Pakistan’s current economic upheaval.

Fawad Ismail, president of the Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce, gave a presentation to the Ambassador regarding the Chamber’s efforts to strengthen trade ties between Pakistan and the United States through events including investment seminars and webinars on the Roshan Digital Account (RDA). In addition, he highlighted the charitable efforts made during the Covid-19 pandemic, including the donation of over a million dollars worth of personal protective equipment (PPE), the raising of funds for disaster relief in Pakistan and the United States, and the aid provided to local communities and businesses.
