After a year, Ben Stokes’ prediction about the “Eng vs Pak final?” materialises

451569 625798 updates

English all-rounder Ben Stokes made a prediction a year ago, and it came true on Thursday as England defeated India by 10 wickets to advance to the Twenty20 World Cup final against Pakistan.Stokes tweeted his fans on October 29, 2021, requesting their predictions for the final against Pakistan and England. When Pakistan had already defeated New Zealand, India, and Afghanistan and was leading group II, he sent the tweet.

However, England had a lopsided victory over the defending champion West Indies and subcontinent bully Bangladesh to start the tournament.Contrary to predictions, England and Pakistan, who were expected to meet in the championship game, were eliminated from contention.

When facing the Black Caps in the last overs under pressure, England was unable to maintain composure. Similarly, despite having Australia at 96 for 5 at one stage and needing to bat out 177, Pakistan was unable to end their innings. Twitter users mocked Stokes for his tweet at the same time.

Elon Musk predicts “difficult days ahead,” with Twitter banning remote employment

Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Twitter, delivered his first email to the company’s employees on Wednesday, warning them of “tough times ahead” and terminating the option to work remotely.

According to a Bloomberg News story, Musk cautioned in his email that a “weaker economic situation” in the United States meant there would be issues for Twitter. Musk sold $3.95 billion worth of Tesla shares after finalising the $44 billion transaction for Twitter.

Analysts have forecast that advertising spending will increase more slowly in 2023, which might be bad news for Twitter since advertising generates the majority of the company’s revenue.

Nawaz Sharif was awarded a diplomatic passport

PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, who has resided in London since November 2019, has received a diplomatic passport, according to family sources.Nawaz, though, insists that he already possessed a diplomatic passport.

Diplomatic passports are issued to dignitaries of the state, diplomats, and other entitled categories in accordance with Paragraph 45 of Part I of the Passport & Visa Manual, 2006, according to the Directorate-General of Immigration and Passports of the Ministry of the Interior. It should be remembered that Nawaz and the prime minister Shehbaz Sharif met in London today. Other prominent PML-N figures present at the meeting included Maryam Nawaz, Khawaja Asif, Malik Ahmad Khan, Sulaiman Shahbaz, and Hussain Nawaz. The league executives’ meeting lasted for roughly three and a half hours.

Prince Harry

Prince Harry asked for the million-dollar Netflix arrangement to be terminated.

In opposition to how his late mother Princess Diana is portrayed on Netflix’s streaming service in the fifth season of The Crown, Prince Harry has been encouraged to ‘walk away’ from his multi-million dollar relationship with the company.

In an interview with The Sun, royal expert Angela Levin criticised Prince Harry for maintaining his contract with Netflix despite the company ‘exposing’ Princess Diana. The latest season of the popular royal drama will premiere.

Prince Harry

If Prince Harry has a guilty conscience, he may certainly take action, according to Levin. They might return their money to them and go. But he is unwilling to.

“How you can donate your money to someone who’s doing that is too startling,” she continued. When Netflix is exposing your mother, you cannot remain seated and expect others to respect you.

“If he left, he’d be a hero. Harry ought to leave,” Levin said.

On November 9, 2022, The Crown season five debuted on Netflix to harsh criticism from royal specialists and aficionados for “dramatising” the royal family’s difficulties in the 1990s.

King Charles

According To Experts King Charles is portrayed as a nasty man in the new season of ‘The Crown.’

Netflix has come under fire for its portrayal of King Charles in its newest season from pro-monarchy royal scholar Angela Levin.

King Charles

“I have intermittently watched the entire series of Crown on Netflix What a jerk,” she wrote.

King Charles is depicted as a vile man who constantly chews his lips, yet phrases touting his assistance to youth are flashed on television, according to Levin. It deftly aids in creating the impression that the rest is accurate.”

She spoke on the situation in the UK while once more criticising The Crown.

Anyone else feel like the nation is disintegrating, Angela Levin asked? Attacks, defamatory Netflix Crown about our Monarchy that many people will take to be true, even from eggs, and compel us to give vast sums of money to numerous nations when the nation cannot afford it.

Passportissued to NAWAZ Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif: Diplomatic Passport was issued to Ex PM.

Nawaz Sharif, a former prime minister, received a diplomatic passport on Thursday from the federal government.

According to sources, the passport was issued following approval from the Foreign Ministry.

Details indicate that Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N leader, has received a diplomatic passport from the federal government. The passport will be valid for 5 years once it has been approved by the Foreign Ministry.

Nawaz Sharif Passport

Nawaz Sharif has received the passport from the Passport and Immigration Office.

The PML-N leader’s passport was suspended by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration after the court branded him an evader. The PML-N leader previously received a standard passport.

Nawaz, a former prime minister, received a passport earlier in April from the Pakistani Embassy in London. It should be mentioned that the former prime minister’s passport was cancelled on February 16 of last year.

The leader of the PML-N received a 10-year normal category Pakistani passport. The passport was renewed on Shehbaz Sharif’s orders following a shift of power in Pakistan.

Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar publicly resigns.

The politician tweeted his resignation along with a photo of himself with Sanjrani, writing:

“All praise to Allah, I have today submitted my resignation in writing. I’m grateful for the enthusiastic response and support from people of all parties, which exceeded my expectations.

He “clearly” stated to those who were speculating about his potential role in national politics that he would not join any political party.

The senator pledged, “I will work hard to protect my independence.”

As a result of allegations that the PPP was unhappy with his political stance, the PPP veteran had earlier this week declared that he will formally retire from his position as a senator.

In the Afghan capital, the Taliban forbid women from entering parks and amusement fairs.

Women are reportedly “bored and fed up” with being compelled to remain home as a result of the new order, which has had a devastating impact on business.

women are forbidden from attending parks and funfairs in the Afghan capital.

Just a few short months after issuing an order mandating that access be divided according to gender, the Taliban in Afghanistan has issued a decree that prevents Afghan women from attending the public parks and funfairs in the Afghan capital.

This week saw the implementation of a new regulation that further restricts women’s access to an already diminishing public sphere. They are already required to cover their heads in a hijab or burqa anytime they go outside of the house, and traveling without a male chaperone is prohibited them. Additionally, secondary schools for females have been closed for more than a year throughout the majority of the nation.

Mohammad Akif Sadeq Mohajir, the spokesperson for the Ministry for the Prevention of Vice and Promotion of Virtue, stated, “For the past 15 months, we tried our best to arrange and sort it out – and even specified the days”. “But still, in some places – in fact, we must say in many places – the rules were violated,” he said in an interview with AFP. “There was mixing, hijab was not observed, that’s why the decision has been taken for now.”

Women and the managers of the park, who have made significant financial investments in the development of the amenities, reacted with dismay to the news.

COAS Peshawar1667992926 0

ISPR puts an end to rumors that COAS Bajwa may get yet another extension.

The communications branch of the military has issued a statement in which they refer to the recent appearances of the COAS at garrisons as “farewell visits.”

COAS is not getting another extension according to ISPR.

On Thursday, the army put an end to all rumors that the current head will be given yet another extension. The army’s official media wing reported that General Qamar Javed Bajwa has begun his goodbye visits, thereby putting an end to all rumors and speculation.

According to a statement that was sent by the Inter-Services Public Relations, “General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited Sialkot and Mangla garrisons as part of his farewell visits to various formations”.

Despite the fact that the top military spokesman has previously declared that General Bajwa would not be seeking another extension, rumors and suspicions surrounding the current head remaining in his position have been rampant over the last several weeks.

There have been rumblings that General Bajwa may be granted a brief extension and that a deputy chief of army staff will be selected. On the other hand, the most recent statement issued by the ISPR made it very obvious that the current COAS would officially remove his uniform on November 29. His six-year term would come to an end after significant changes occurred in Pakistan, both within and outside.

T20i World Cup: England’s victory over India propelled them into the World Cup final.

At the Adelaide Oval, England annihilated India by a staggering 10-wicket margin, which allowed them to go to the final of the Men’s Twenty20 World Cup.

England into finals again Pakistan in world cup t20i

The opening duo of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales were successful in chasing down 169 runs without losing a wicket, despite playing in an environment that was overly supportive of India.

They cruised to victory with a mammoth 24 balls to spare, securing one of England’s biggest victories in white-ball competition and setting up a final match against Pakistan for the following day.

Both Hales and Buttler concluded the game unblemished, with Hales finishing on 86 not out from 47 and Buttler on 80 not out from 49. The England captain sealed the victory with the pair’s 10th six.

Before Hardik Pandya’s 63 off 33 balls drove his team to what had seemed like a challenging target, England’s bowlers had successfully restrained India for a good portion of the game.

But England got off to a quick start thanks to Hales, who was returned after spending more than three years in international exile, and Buttler kept up the attack.

It eliminates the possibility of the tournament ending with a mouthwatering matchup between India and Pakistan and instead guarantees a rematch of the classic 50-over World Cup final that took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 1992. (MCG).

Pakistan has a chance to win if the World Twenty20 final is postponed due to rain

Pakistan may win the T20 World Cup if the final is rained out

Pakistan can win Worldcup if it rained

In the event that the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup final is postponed or canceled due to poor weather, the two remaining teams would likely be crowned joint winners.

In the biggest cricket tournament, Pakistan has already reached the final. In today’s second semifinal, England and India will battle it out to determine the second team that advances to the finals.

The much-anticipated match at Melbourne’s historic Melbourne Cricket Ground has been put in jeopardy by a significant rain prediction. On Sunday, the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia projects a 95% chance of precipitation in Melbourne.

In the event of inclement weather on Sunday, the championship game will be held on Monday at 3 pm [9 pm PST]. Even Melbourne can expect some rain on Monday.

The Age reports that the World Cup officials are feeling the heat to keep the scheduled kickoff time because of the demands of international television networks. There will be “every effort” to finish the match on the scheduled day, under the T20 World Cup playing conditions.

If the required amount of overs cannot be bowled on the designated day, the match will be continued on the reserve day.

In the event of a rainout during the T20 World Cup final, the trophy will be split evenly between the two teams.

Three of the matches in the ongoing cricket competition have been postponed due to rain. When England’s Twenty20 World Cup match against Ireland was unexpectedly called off owing to bad weather, fans in the stadium were stunned.

Australia, the tournament’s host nation, was eliminated when they were unable to play England in a must-win match due to the recent wet period in Melbourne.

Pakistan seals semifinal berth

The Babar Azam-led team won the semi-finals by seven wickets. The Black Caps had set a 153-run target for Pakistan which the Men in Green chased down with ease.

Skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan had a 105-run partnership. It was in the 12th over that New Zealand dismissed Babar for 53 to end the partnership. At that point, Pakistan required 47 from 43 balls.

But by then, the Men In Green had already gained much ground. Rizwan and Mohammad Haris kept the scoreboard ticking until the wicketkeeper was dismissed via run out at 57.

Haris was caught at short fine leg on the last ball of the 19th over. Right in the next over, Pakistan won the match by seven wickets.

The Men In Green will now face either England or India — who will face off tomorrow.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell’s half-century helped New Zealand set a 153-run target after New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson opted to bat first.

kartarpur corridor

The Kartarpur Corridor has a hard time producing results.

Kartarpur Corridor struggles to produce fruitful outcomes.

Kartarpur Corridor struggles to deliver.

LAHORE:
It has been three years since Indian and Pakistani government officials gathered at the International Border’s zero point to sign an agreement to open the Kartarpur Corridor, a yatra road spanning 2.5 miles and intended to mend long-standing rifts between the two neighbors.

The Sikh community rejoiced at the simplification of visa requirements to visit the kartarpur, a “gateway to the guru,” as it had long wished to do so in order to pay their respects at the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev.

However, despite these efforts, it seems that the corridor is still plagued by unresolved issues and mutual mistrust, making it unlikely that it will provide the anticipated fruit in 2019. The current PML-N-led administration has shown little to no interest in revitalizing the long-term initiative, which has only made things worse.

The treaty between Pakistan and India stipulated that every day, five thousand Sikhs from across the border would cross into Pakistan to worship at a Gurdwara in India. But the number of passengers using the passageway has been dismal during the past three years.

Only 1,10,670 Indian nationals as of July this year had used the corridor to visit the shrine.

Sikh community members have blamed India’s passport requirements and the cumbersome registration process, while Pakistan’s $20 entry fee is also a big factor in the decline in the number of Indian pilgrims.

On this side of the border, many criticize the present government’s lack of interest in the project, citing a change in mentality since the fall of Imran Khan’s government.

Even though many members of his own party are from the area, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declined to visit the site so far because the initiative was started by his political competitor, Imran Khan, according to insiders.

As a result, there will be an unreasonably long delay in completing phase II of the project and building the Zero Line bridge.

Assassination attempt on Imran Khan: PTI will go to the SC to file a FIR

Imran Khan is free to designate anyone for an FIR.

Imran Khan is able to put forward a nomination for any member of an FIR.

Imran can nominate anyone in an FIR.
Former prime minister Imran is helped after he was shot in the shin in Wazirabad, Pakistan November 3, 2022.

ISLAMABAD: The honorary chairman of a Japanese automobile company, who can literally change the fortunes of a country through his business and was named “Asia Businessman of the Year 2005” by Fortune, was once nominated in a first information report (FIR) in Pakistan and narrowly avoided arrest by the capital city’s police.

The bizarre development took place when renowned politician Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi’s son Behram Khan died in a road accident on Nov 22, 2002, within the jurisdiction of Margalla police station.

Niazi, who belonged to Mianwali and served as minister for parliamentary affairs, had nominated Fujio Cho along with others for allegedly installing a defective supplemental restraint airbag system in his son’s car and the Islamabad police had included the names.

Respected attorney Raja Rizwan Abbasi recalls a time when a Pakistani investigating officer failed to successfully apprehend the CEO of a Japanese automaker in a car accident case. However, the police official in the capital city later reported that he had been informed that Cho was hiding in a building that was still under construction.

Cho eventually fled when he noticed the police approaching, and he was subsequently labeled an absconder.

Abbasi stated, “Imran can even nominate President Joe Biden, President Vladimir Putin, President Xi Jinping, Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, or any other person he wants; it’s his right and FIR should be registered the way he wants.”

‘Imran can nominate anyone in FIR

Leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been calling for a case to be lodged against current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and a military commander ever since a gun incident that took place during a long march in Wazirabad.

The head of the PTI and other top party officials are sure that an FIR lacking the names of these three people is meaningless paper. In a recent interview with CNN, former premier Imran repeated his earlier claim that he is unable to identify the individuals he suspects of plotting his assassination.

According to Abbasi, the police or court can release the accused for lack of proof after investigation if Imran Khan nominates them and if there are penalties if the information he provides turns out to be fraudulent and is not proven during the investigation or before the court.

Shoaib Shaheen, president of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, echoed Abbasi’s sentiments, saying that the police are within their rights to refuse to record the FIR as asked if they believe the nominated individuals will be removed from their positions by the police or magistrate.

Abbasi responded to a question about when charges of false FIR are attracted by stating that in this case, no one can deny the rally and the firing at Imran and that therefore Section 182 (false information with the intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) of the Pakistan Penal Code applies.

Both attorneys agreed that submitting a bogus FIR was unethical, but they also felt that the justice system had been compromised by not registering the FIR as the complainant had requested. Moreover, they all agreed that the accused have no recourse before facing insult unless they sue for damages due to malicious prosecution and that this can only be done after the matter has been closed.

“One purpose of nominating people in the FIR is to stigmatize them and it gives the other side the opportunity to keep on pointing fingers at others that they were once nominated in such and such case,” Abbasi said.

Abbasi lamented that the practice was more common in the past when people would nominate the opponent groups or a whole village in a case just to settle a score, saying that the reputations of individuals were damaged on a daily basis through such cases but that there was no repair for such damages except seeking pecuniary damages for malicious prosecution.

“Wrongly implicating someone in a case is wrong, but circumstances in Imran’s cases are different,” Shaheen said, adding that at first the case was given a religious element, and subsequently the attack was blamed on growing political polarisation. He added that the revelation of video statements and the delay in filing the FIR show that influential persons were behind the murders since “no one kills in love; circumstances show enmity.”

Shaheen said, “A popular leader escaped an assassination attempt and some people are making fun of it.” “Did they want another incident like Benazir Bhutto, whose real killers have never been brought before the nation?”
Abbasi remarked, “Anyone could be nominated in an FIR in a country where Cho can be booked and declared an absconder.” And the system is this, and it operates like this:

According to Finance Minister Dar, AIIB will provide $500 million for a development initiative

451356 267488 updates

An Asian Development Bank (ADB) finance programme called BRACE (Building Resilience with Active Countercyclical Expenditures Program) seeks to mitigate the social effects of economic crisis. The money would support the central bank’s foreign exchange holdings, which as of October 28 were valued at $8,912.9 million and could cover one month’s worth of imports.

The government needs the reserves in the current scenario since it has to import food as a result of the catastrophic floods that destroyed the agricultural harvests and caused damages worth over $30 billion.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) also granted $1.5 billion in financing in October to assist Pakistan in providing social protection, fostering food security, and assisting employment for its citizens despite disastrous floods and interruptions to the world’s supply chains.

The government’s $2.3 billion countercyclical development spending programme, which is intended to lessen the effects of external shocks like the Russian invasion of Ukraine, will benefit from the loan, which was provided under ADB’s BRACE programme.

When Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, and Mithun Chakraborty collaborate on an action comedy, it’s if the 1990s all over again.

Sunny Deol and Jackie Shroff, who are recognised for their classic commercial Bollywood flicks, are currently only appearing in a small number of projects. In contrast to the latter, who most recently appeared in PhoneBhoot as the antagonist, Sunny Deol’s most recent appearance was in Chup – Revenge of an Artist, in which he portrayed a police officer. Sanjay Dutt, who gave one of the year’s biggest blockbusters with KGF Chapter 2, was present with them.

In the Shamshera movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor, the actor also played an antagonist. These three 90s icons are reportedly planning to work together in a single movie, which would also star veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty.

It’s interesting to note that earlier today, a social media post revealed the four stars’ first appearance. Sanjay Dutt’s appearance in this photo reminded us of him from his 2000 flicks Kaante and Plan, while Jackie was wearing his well-known 90s outfit, which included a little scarf tied around his neck.

Mithun Chakraborty was spotted in a salt-and-pepper style, while Sunny had a beard and lengthy hair. Although the movie’s name is a secret, its creators confirmed that it will be an action comedy.

Vivek Chauhan, who will be making his Bollywood directing debut with this movie, will helm it. Vivek has previously served as an assistant for movies and television shows, including Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Ahmed Khan and Shaira Ahmed Khan will produce the movie in collaboration with Zee Studios.

Although it will be exciting to see the four well-known actors work together on a big screen, they have already collaborated on a number of projects.

One of the biggest box office successes of their careers, the Subhash Ghai movie Khalnayak, which starred Madhuri Dixit as the lead actress, featured Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt together. Alongside Sunny Deol, Jackie has appeared in movies like Border, Tridev, and Dushmani, among others. Yodha, Kshatriya, and Krodh are just a few of the movies that Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Deol have worked on together. Among other movies, Sanjay Dutt and Mithun Chakraborty have appeared in Luck and Ilaaka.

She continued by expressing gratitude to Shaan Shahid, a seasoned actor-director, and Lashari for helping her perform by giving her advice on how to maintain a sensual outlook while displaying some hypermasculine emotions like fury, pride, and hatred. “

Humaima, not Fawad Khan, preferred flirting with the camera, which was another intriguing Daro finding. “I was flirting with the camera more than the guy. Regarding her sequences with Maula in the movie, she noted that Daro had to embrace herself unconditionally.

She acknowledged that the scenes were electrifying to see, though, and gave Fawad the credit for helping to make it happen. Daro romanticises her brother. The most resilient person in her life is him. He preserved her and made her live like a princess among a tribe of men who were hostile to her.

As a result, when she first meets Maula, she examines him from head to toe and falls in love with him the moment he has the courage to tell her about Makha’s (Gohar Rasheed) murder.

Fawad is the type of character that works so hard for everyone to shine in the moment, she continued. He is what I refer to as Pakistan’s Aamir Khan. Fawad would contact me at the end of each day of the shoot to compliment me on how well I did. That truly meant a lot to me.

Humaima acknowledged that it was challenging to avoid appearing “vulgar” or “weak” in situations given the conflicting feelings she had to portray on screen. We performed this scene with the wooden Mashal lights in a vault, a teh khana, in one of the mediaeval forts in Lahore since the dialogues were challenging.

It was smokey, and the fight scene was challenging since I had to convey lust and desire in addition to being bright and sensuous. As a guy, I had to woo Maula. Daro recently wore the turban; she is strong and courageous enough to court Maula.

When asked what made TLOMJ such a smashing hit, Humaima credited director Bilal’s vision and writer Nasir Adeeb’s faith in and dedication to the project. It is a very difficult job to hand over that badge of honour to someone else to carry forward with a completely different outlook if someone has made Mughal-e-Azam. The original language of the movie was English.

In order to get the dialogues translated into Punjabi, Bilal first composed them in English after receiving the script from Nasir Adeeb sahab. They didn’t find a middle ground. It took Nasir Sahab a long time to transition from Bilal’s interpretation of Maula Jatt to his traditional Punjabi legend style. And I’m pleased with Bilal for honouring his commitments and compromises.

There seems to be no way to talk to Humaima about her old Emraan Hashmi movie without doing so. “I’m not sorry or embarrassed about that. We shouldn’t have any restrictions, I’m an artist, she proclaimed.

“I must, however, apologise to my country for not anticipating their response. Strong, independent women are misunderstood in Pakistan. I believe that through working together, we have erased 90% of Emraan’s sins. Even if I share a photo from my Umrah, someone will comment on it on him.

Faridoon mentioned how close she is to her brother Feroze Khan as she transitioned from her career to personal life. She said with a smile, “Woh meri jaan hai (he is my life). If I were a heart, he would be my heartbeat; alternatively, if I were zameen, I would be my asmaan ( and if I am the land, he is my sky). Feroze loves me just as much as I love him, and there are no conditions or restrictions in our relationship.

She made similarities using her movie, “I love Feroze, and he loves me in the same manner as Daro loved Noori and Noori loved Daro. We adore each other so much.”

She recalled an incident to illustrate the extent her brother went to make her happy. Feroze gave her a handwritten letter from Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan on her birthday, she said. “My brother gave me a handwritten letter by Amitabh Bachchan with his image and signature for my birthday. It is the cutest thing and is framed in my office. He hailed me fortunate and addressed me as “Humaima sahiba.”

She stated what the letter said, describing how he encouraged her to keep working hard as she does and even expressed his appreciation for the preliminary work she had completed. That is how much he loves me, and I love him just as much, if not more, she said.

Television channels in India are required by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to air public service or national interest programming for 30 minutes each day.The ministry’s most recent uplinking and downloading regulations noted that television stations other than sports and wildlife will be required to air such information in the benefit of the country.

According to India Today, the ministry also exempted international channels from the requirement.Apurva Chandra, secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, told the media outlet that they would talk more about the issue with interested parties. The official was cited as stating, “We will produce a circular on this shortly… But before that, we will meet and discuss with all the stakeholders.”

How scientists listen to space: the sounds of the stars

The use of sound rather than light in astronomy is removing obstacles to participation and bringing new insights into the universe.

sounds of stars in space

For seeing astronomers, the Universe is rich with visual marvels. From gleaming planets to glittering galaxies, the universe is breathtakingly gorgeous. However, persons who are blind or visually challenged are unable to join in this experience. Consequently, astronomers have developed alternate methods of communicating scientific knowledge, such as utilizing 3D printing to depict exploding stars and sound to illustrate the collision of neutron stars.

The latest in a series of publications on the use of sonification in astronomy will be published in the journal Nature Astronomy on Friday. Sonification is the process of converting data (especially research data) into digital audio files that may be heard as well as read and viewed. The researchers highlighted in Nature Astronomy demonstrate how sound representations might aid scientists in identifying patterns or signals in vast astronomical data sets.

The study illustrates that efforts to increase inclusion and accessibility may have far-reaching consequences. This is true not just in astronomy, but also in other domains where discoveries would not have been discovered otherwise. Researchers and publishers must take notice and encourage multidisciplinary activities that are both creative and inclusive.

Astronomers have been making important discoveries for decades by both looking at and listening to data. Karl Jansky, a physicist at Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey, tracked radio static to the center of the Milky Way in the early 1930s. This led to the discovery of the supermassive black hole at the center of the Galaxy and the birth of radio astronomy. Wanda Daz-Merced, a blind astronomer at the European Gravitational Observatory in Cascina, Italy, has used sonification in many groundbreaking projects, such as studying plasma patterns in the upper atmosphere of Earth.

Sonification initiatives increased a decade ago, attracting experts from several fields. Take Cambridge, Massachusetts-based data-visualization specialist, and scientific communicator Kimberly Arcand. Arcand started writing and lecturing on NASA’s Chandra X-Ray Observatory discovery. She then focused on touch, constructing 3D-printed sculptures of the “leftovers” of burst stars to explain their physics. In early 2020, the pandemic prevented her from using a 3D printer, so she switched to sonification.

NASA tweeted about the Perseus galaxy cluster’s black hole sound in August, and the accompanying audio has been played over 17 million times. Arcand and colleagues translated some of the initial James Webb Space Telescope photos into music in the same month. They mapped light intensity and colors in the headline-grabbing photos into audio with the help of blind and visually impaired persons.

These maps are based on precise technical information. For example, in the sonification of an image of gas and dust in a far-off nebula, strong light towards the top of the picture is represented by loud high-frequency sounds, whereas bright light in the center of the image is represented by loud lower-frequency noises. The sonification of a black hole converts information about sound waves traveling across space, which are produced when a black hole collides with the heated gas around it, into audible frequencies.

Other scientists have tried data sonification. Biophysicists teach protein folding using it. Protein characteristics are matched to loudness and pitch to create an audio depiction of the intricate folding process. Brain scans may help neuroscientists diagnose Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers in Alaska assigned musical instruments to different tree species to represent climate change-induced ecological shifts.

Long-term evaluations must assess what such methods can give that others cannot. Despite the technical correctness of particular initiatives, the Nature Astronomy series notes that there are no uniform criteria for sonifying scientific data and little published research on its efficacy.

Funding would help. The multidisciplinary nature of alternative data representation research makes it difficult to get consistent financing. Scientists typically cooperate alongside musicians or sound engineers.

Díaz-Merced and Arcand will address sonification in space sciences at the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs on November 17. This promotes sonification as a research tool and astronomy participation tool. Time to fully support their initiatives.

Twitter mocks Imran Khan for a mix-up involving Babar Azam and Babar Awan during the T20 World Cup

image 22

After PTI Chairman Imran Khan accidentally thanked his assistant Babar Awan for Pakistan’s T20 World Cup victory over New Zealand, which saw the Men in Green advance to the tournament’s final, Twitterati had a field day.Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s hitherto ineffective opening pair, decided to turn things around against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup semifinal on Thursday. They combined for a century stand to advance the 2009 champions to the championship game.

However, Khan erroneously tweeted: “Congratulations Babar Awan and the team for a terrific win,” rather than congratulating captain Babar. He quickly realised this, though, and removed the tweet.Since he has a large fan base, people noticed the error and took screenshots before it was removed.
